Key Club 101

Service, leadership, character

A short guide to Key Club, and how the Tokay chapter uses it.

Key Club International is a student-led organization for high school students, sponsored by Kiwanis International. Clubs are run by members, with Kiwanis advisors beside them.

Tokay’s chapter is one club inside Division 27 North, in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District. The school is Tokay High School in Lodi, California. The mascot is the Grizzlies, which is why the home page asks for the roar.

Service

Projects for children and the local community. In this district, that includes the Pediatric Trauma Program.

Leadership

Members plan the club: meetings, committees, fundraisers, and division events. Officers are students.

Character

Key Club’s international motto is “Caring—Our Way of Life.” Tokay says it as “Caring-Our Way through Life.”

How the Tokay chapter works

  1. Join and attend. Meeting details are shared at school and on Instagram.
  2. Pay dues. Dues make you a counting member for club goals and district records.
  3. Serve and log it. Hours from projects count toward the club service goal.
  4. Take a role. The board plans the year. Division events are where Tokay meets the rest of D27N.
